Float/hole steam traps made of cast iron are used in high-displacement applications. The Spirax Sarco trap is a relatively unique steam trap. Spirax Sarco traps are made of cast iron with D flange connections. Mainly used in sugar industry systems with low pressure difference and high load.
Spirax Sarco Trap Selection
The trap has a device that combines a fixed hole with a float mechanism. There is therefore a minimum flow to ensure that steam does not escape. Minimum discharge is a percentage of the maximum hot condensate discharge shown in the discharge diagram.
Example: When the pressure difference r is used in the application, the maximum condensate discharge is / and the minimum discharge is /. or D type can pass the maximum displacement. How Spirax Sarco Traps Work

The fixed hole (four types D) can pass a certain amount of condensed water under a given pressure difference, but the load must be continuous. If the condensate flow is higher than the maximum shown in the diagram, a separate float mechanism can provide additional displacement. Therefore, correct selection should be made to ensure that the condensed water volume of the equipment is between the maximum and minimum values shown in the diagram.
