At present, the application effect of the anti-corrosion layer at home and abroad is very good, and there are few reports of defects caused by its use. The main reported shortcomings include dew point, peeling, cathodic peeling, cathodic protection shielding, peeling and corrosion under the anti-corrosion layer, etc., and most reports of defects still remain in the theoretical speculation stage. For example, the problem of cathodic protection shielding is mentioned in the data. There have been no reported instances of cathodic protection shielding occurring during actual operation of the anti-corrosion layer. Years of practice have shown that as the service life increases, the coating system with the fewest defects is the extruded polyethylene layer structural anti-corrosion system.
Through a review of the annual application history of polyethylene anti-corrosion layers in Europe, although corrosion or stress corrosion cracking will theoretically occur under the peeled anti-corrosion layer, it has not yet occurred. Random tests were conducted on the remaining anti-corrosion pipes of the Shaanxi-Beijing pipeline stored in the open air at the North China Petroleum Steel Pipe Factory in 2011 and 2016. The results showed that their anti-corrosion performance has not declined at all, especially for Hualong Company.
