Failure analysis of micro-explosion perforation of the main cold pipe of the cold box of a large oxygen concentrator
The oxygen concentrator of a coal chemical company was put into operation soon after it was put into operation. A puncture failure occurred at the inner arc of the main cold pipe bend of the cold box, causing huge losses to the company. In order to prevent such accidents from happening again, a failure analysis was carried out on the micro-explosion and perforation accident of the main cold pipe of the large oxygen generator cold box, and the root cause of the accident was successfully found. The main reason was that the organic matter formed by dry evaporation in the dead zone of the liquid oxygen flow crystallized and enriched. Concentrated on the inside of the pipe wall, electrostatic discharge causes micro-explosive combustion and perforation, and the failure part uses a high-nickel and manganese stainless steel cold iron bushing at the weld. It is this material that accelerates the intensity of the explosive combustion. It is recommended that enterprises strengthen equipment operation management, reduce the organic content in liquid oxygen, improve the type of cold iron and other measures to prevent perforation accidents.
