The gauge used to test the maximum physical size of the workpiece (that is, the hole is the smallest and the shaft is the largest limit size) is called a general gauge. The gauge that checks the minimum physical size of the workpiece (that is, the hole is the largest and the shaft is the smallest limit size) is called a stop gauge.
The gauges that comply with the limit size judgment principle (i.e. Taylor's principle) are as follows:
The measuring surface of the general gauge should be a complete surface corresponding to the shape of the hole or shaft (usually called a full-shape gauge). The dimensions are equal to the largest physical dimension of the workpiece, and the length is equal to the mating length. The measuring surface of the stop gauge should be point-shaped, and the size between the two measuring surfaces should be equal to the minimum physical size of the workpiece.
Use gauges that comply with this standard to inspect the workpiece. If the general gauge can pass but the stop gauge cannot, the workpiece should be qualified.
When the manufacturer inspects the workpiece, the operator should use new or less worn regulations. The inspection department should use the same form as the operator and have more worn regulations. When the user representative uses gauges to accept workpieces, the general gauge should be close to the maximum physical size of the workpiece, and the stop gauge should be close to the minimum physical size of the workpiece.
Use gauges that comply with this standard to inspect the workpiece. If there is a dispute, the gauges of the following sizes should be used to resolve the issue
