The display cabinet should be able to control temperature and humidity
The display cabinet should have good sealing performance, and an automatic temperature and humidity measuring instrument and humidity control equipment should be installed inside. The first option for controlling humidity in showcases is to install a dehumidifier. When the humidity exceeds the required range, the humidity controller can automatically turn on the dehumidifier to reduce the humidity and display an alarm signal at the same time. A second option for controlling humidity in showcases is to place hygroscopic buffering materials. This option requires sufficient space in the lower cabinet of the showcase for a moisture-absorbing cushioning material, such as silicone. The hygroscopic buffer material can absorb moisture in humid climates in summer and release moisture in dry climates in winter to keep the humidity in the showcase stable. Staff need to replace hygroscopic buffer materials at any time according to climate characteristics. That is to say, in summer, staff need to dry the moisture-absorbing buffer material so that it has moisture-absorbing ability and then put it into the display cabinet to be effective. In winter, staff need to put the hygroscopic buffering material into a small environment with high humidity so that it can absorb enough moisture so that it has the ability to release moisture before it can be put into a display cabinet to be effective. Canadian Museum Experience According to Canadian museum experience, approximately kilograms of silica gel should be placed per cubic meter of display cabinet space. For display cabinets with good sealing, 1.0 kg of silica gel per cubic meter of display cabinet space can also meet the requirements. The lower silica gel box of the display cabinet should have enough air holes for air exchange with the upper cultural relics display part. The purpose of reserving a moisture-absorbing buffer material box on the lower level of the showcase is so that the exhibits in the showcase will not be affected when replacing the silica gel, that is, there is no need to move the exhibits. The third option for controlling the temperature and humidity of display cabinets is to use central air-conditioning duct connection to control the temperature and humidity inside the display cabinets. The Shanghai Museum adopts this method. Display cabinets that require the same temperature and humidity are connected with the same ventilation duct, air is supplied at the same time, and air is returned through the display cabinets through positive air pressure.
Lighting requirements for showcases:
The lighting in showcases should be safe for cultural relics, that is, cold light spotlights without ultraviolet rays should be used. The brightness of each lamp should be adjustable through the knob in the box, and the light point should also be Can be freely rotated and adjusted. Optical fiber lighting can send light into the display cabinet lighting position and place the luminous heat source at a distant position. This kind of cold light spotlight is conducive to ventilation and discharges the luminous heat out of the cabinet. If the showcase is illuminated by a light box, a UV filter film should be placed between the lamp and the diffuser glass. The luminous spectrum of the lamp should be close to that of natural light. The heat of the lamp should be discharged out of the display cabinet through the exhaust equipment.
