When the bottom plate moves backward, the coal in the box is blocked by the inclined plate at the rear of the box. There is a gap between the bottom plate and the coal. Without relative sliding, the coal at the front end of the box falls on its own. Due to the reciprocating motion of the bottom plate, continuous and even feeding is achieved.
