随着欧佩克达成减产框架性协议，WTI原油飙涨，中国汽油九年来首次抵达美国东海岸纽约港口，有助减缓亚洲汽油供应过剩状态。
据一名知情人士表示，大宗商品巨头托克集团将从中国以及香港装载37.5万桶汽油运往纽约。据美国海关数据显示，上几周托克集团已在休斯敦交付一部分汽油，才继续往东北部航行。不过，托克发言人并未对此作出表态。
自9月9日，美国大汽车燃料油承运商Colonial Pipeline的泄漏事故后，墨西哥湾到东海岸沿线的主要燃料供应中断，美东地区汽油供应受到威胁，价格大涨。同时，也吸引了亚洲地区的汽油供应。休斯敦石油协会表示：
“管道泄漏事件导致越来越多亚洲地区汽油进入纽约港，这些过剩的供应可能会寻找其他的目的地，不过现在他们有了更好的选择。”
