Hua Gang: Good afternoon everyone! The title of today’s report is The Golden Age of Computational Vision, Opportunities and Challenges. If we see this topic, there are several keywords. The first is computer vision, the second is the golden age, the third and fourth are opportunities and challenges.
Based on these four keywords, I will tell you my understanding and opinions. What is computer vision? Defining the field from an academic point of view, computer vision involves computer systems that extract numerical and symbolic values from images and videos. We talk about a vision that will allow computers to see and understand images like humans, and we think it's a golden age to look back at the history of the true development of computer vision. Basically speaking, in the first embryonic stage of the history of computer vision, this field was still relatively new from year to year. In 2016 we presented a vision for computer vision at a summer artificial intelligence conference. Whether we can solve the computer vision work within three or four months, it has not been completely solved to this day. It has experienced a lot of development in the meantime. In the 1990s, MIT actually established a research group and opened the first computer vision course.
