What are the symptoms of neurodermatitis?
Symptoms of neurodermatitis. When neurodermatitis first breaks out, there is only itching but no primary skin lesions. Due to scratching and friction, flat papules the size of millet to mung bean gradually appear on the skin, round or polygonal, hard and shiny, and pale. Red or normal skin color, scattered distribution. Due to paroxysmal severe itching, the patient often scratches, and the papules gradually increase, and over time they merge into sheets, become hypertrophic, and become lichen-like, manifested as deepening of the striae, raised skin ridges, and dark brown, dry, and flaky skin lesions. Finely peel off the flakes. The patchy skin lesions have clear borders, and there may be small flat papules at the edges, which are scattered and isolated. The number of skin lesions is variable, and they can be solitary or widespread all over the body, with varying sizes and shapes.
Neurodermatitis commonly occurs on both sides of the neck, neck, cubital fossa, popliteal fossa, sacrococcygeal area, wrists, and ankles. It is also found in the lower back, eyelids, limbs, and vulva. If the skin lesions are limited to one or a few places, it is called localized neurodermatitis. If the skin lesions are widely distributed or even spread throughout the body, it is called generalized neurodermatitis.
The subjective symptom is paroxysmal severe itching, especially at night, which affects sleep. Scratching can cause blood stains and scabs, and in severe cases, folliculitis and lymphitis can develop.
This disease is a chronic disease, with symptoms ranging from mild to severe. It is easy to relapse after cure.
