The China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement will be implemented on 2020, and entry-exit inspection and quarantine agencies in various places will issue the China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement Certificate of Origin. The China-Colombia Free Trade Agreement is the first comprehensive free trade agreement signed between China and Central American countries. After the agreement comes into effect, China and Colombia will implement zero tariffs on their respective products in stages. In terms of trade in services, based on their respective commitments to the WTO, Colombia has further opened up one service sector to China, and China has further opened up several sectors to Colombia. At the same time, the two sides have also reached broad consensus in many areas such as rules of origin, customs procedures, technical trade measures, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, trade remedies, intellectual property rights, and other areas.
China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement negotiations were launched in March 2019. After six rounds of negotiations, the China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement was signed in Beijing in March 2019. This Agreement pioneered the establishment of a free trade area between my country and Central American countries.
China-Costa Rica economic and trade cooperation has huge potential
Costa Rica has become China’s important trading partner in Central America. China is Costa Rica’s second largest trading partner in the world, second only to the United States. It is understood that the bilateral import and export volume of goods in Colombia during the year was US dollars. Among them, my country's exports to Costa Rica were nearly US$100 million, a year-on-year increase, accounting for about half of Costa Rica's total imports. The markets of China and Colombia are obviously complementary, and there is huge potential for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Starting from 2020, the inspection and quarantine agency will begin to issue the China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement Certificate of Origin.
