Large and medium-sized boilers commonly use outside-furnace water treatment methods to prevent scaling, while small and low-pressure boilers often do not have the conditions for outside-furnace water treatment. This is the method of anti-scaling agents.
Anti-scaling agent, also called water softener, is added into the furnace to soften the water to reduce scaling. This method is convenient, simple and practical and is very popular among users.
Principle of descaling
Boiler anti-scaling agent is composed of alkaline substances and organic substances. The alkaline substances in the anti-scaling agent cause the calcium and magnesium salts in the boiler water to form slag, which is removed through sewage discharge. This removes calcium and magnesium ions, preventing them from forming hard scale.
The organic matter in the anti-scaling agent will increase the fluidity of the water slag and make it easier to discharge. At the same time, the organic matter will also form a blocking layer on the metal surface to prevent the formation of scale on the metal surface.

The anti-scaling agent is added to the running boiler water. During long-term operation, it will also react chemically with the old scale, causing the old scale to peel off from the boiler.

Dosage
Boiler anti-scaling agents should be used according to the hardness of the feed water.
Generally, medicine can be used according to the following requirements
Water hardness millimeter equivalent/liter of scaling agent g/ton of water.
For every increase in water hardness, the dosage increases in grams/water.
If you don’t know the hardness of the water supply, add a little more according to the above principles.
How to use
There are two ways to add boiler anti-scaling agent.
One is a boiler with a water tank or pool but no economizer. The medicine can be added directly into the water tank or pool and the medicine can be sent into the furnace along with the water supply.
The other is to use a dosing funnel to pour the medicine directly into the furnace. Before adding the medicine, boil the medicinal ℃ hot water and filter it.
The intermittent dosing method can be used, that is, once per shift or all at once. After adding medicine, pay attention to control the boiler water so that it does not exceed the limit.
At the same time, the regular sewage discharge rate is generally maintained between. Schedule at least once per shift and no more than seconds each time.
If the water level does not change after sewage discharge, check whether the old scale that has fallen off has blocked the pipeline. If the pipeline is blocked, take timely measures.
Precautions
The internal processing operation is simple and easy to master, but the operator must be serious and responsible and perform frequent inspections and tests to achieve the expected results.
Before internal water treatment, descaling should be done as much as possible to prevent large amounts of old scale from breaking off and clogging the pipelines. Rinse once after shutting down the furnace. And pay attention to changes in water levels. For regular inspections, the furnace must be shut down one month after dosing to remove old scale and accumulated water slag to check the anti-scaling effect. The above inspections should be done regularly.
