Clinical significance
Increased tolerance, that is, blood glucose measurement value is lower than the normal value, is seen in islet cell tumor, anterior hypopituitarism, hypothyroidism, chronic adrenal insufficiency and functional (idiopathic) People with hypoglycemia (taking sugar may cause a hypoglycemic reaction and blood sugar drops to a low value).
Impaired tolerance means that the measured blood sugar value is higher than the normal value, which is seen in diabetes and renal glycosuria. Both urine sugars are positive, but the tolerance curve of the former is higher than normal and lasts longer, while the tolerance curve of the latter is slightly lower than normal. In addition, glucose tolerance such as hyperthyroidism, hypercortisolism, chronic pancreatitis, and hepatic glycogen metabolism disorders also decreases.
In patients with latent diabetes, the fasting blood sugar is normal or slightly higher. After oral administration of sugar, the blood sugar rises sharply and peaks earlier than normal. The blood sugar does not fall back to the normal level, showing reduced tolerance and positive urine sugar.

It is forbidden to drink coffee, tea, wine and smoking the day before the test. Otherwise, the test results will be affected.
Mental stimulation should be avoided during the trial. Otherwise, emotional excitement can over-excit the sympathetic nerves and increase the secretion of catecholamines in the blood, affecting the measurement results.
