Extraction tanks (mixing and clarifying tanks) are widely used for the separation and purification of metals in the hydrometallurgical solvent extraction process.
The extraction tank (mixing and clarifying tank) is composed of a mixing chamber that continuously feeds and stirs, and a clarification chamber that relies on gravity to separate the liquid phases. The aqueous phase and the organic phase are stirred and contacted in the mixing chamber. After the mass transfer process approaches equilibrium, the mixed phase enters the large-area clarification chamber for two-phase separation. Multi-stage series connection is often used to achieve deep separation. At a certain stage, it is divided into two liquid layers through sedimentation separation, namely the extraction phase and the raffinate phase. The heavy phase enters the next stage mixing chamber from the heavy phase outlet, and the light phase flows into the previous stage mixing chamber from the light phase outlet, so it is a multi-stage continuous countercurrent operation mode. Repeated mixing and clarification results in a high degree of solute enrichment and purification.
