Comparison method
A method to determine the roughness value of the measured surface by comparing it with a roughness sample marked with a certain value. Methods that can be used for comparison include visual inspection using a magnifying glass or a comparison microscope.
Note: When comparing, the processing method, processing texture, processing direction, and material of the sample must be the same as the surface of the tested part.
Features: This method is simple to measure and can be used for on-site measurements in workshops. It is often used for measurements on medium or rough surfaces.
Stylus method
Use a diamond stylus with a tip radius of curvature of about microns to slowly slide along the surface to be measured. The up and down displacement of the diamond stylus is converted into an electrical signal by an electrical length sensor, and is calculated through amplification and filtering. The surface roughness value is then indicated by the display instrument, and a recorder can also be used to record the profile curve of the measured section. Generally, a measuring tool that can only display the surface roughness value is called a surface roughness measuring instrument. See the color picture.
