1. School Overview
The predecessor of Shanxi Medical University was Shanxi Institute of Medical Education, which was founded in 2000. The school changed its name and moved several times. In that year, it was changed to the private Shanxi Chuanzhi Medical College. In that year, it was renamed as the Department of Medicine of Shanxi University. In that year, it was upgraded to the National Shanxi University Medical College. After the founding of New China, the school entered a new period of development. The school was established independently and was renamed Shanxi Medical College. During the national adjustment of colleges and universities in 2007, the health departments of four medical schools in Shanxi, Jiangsu, Shandong, and Zhejiang were merged to form the Department of Health of Shanxi Medical College. Shao Xiangyi, an expert, national first-level professor and former dean of Jiangsu Medical College, serves as the dean. The name was changed to Shanxi Medical University.
