Curculigo r. A yellow-brown powdery extract product of the rhizome.
Chemical components: The rhizome contains resin, fatty acid starch and mucilage and also contains myricetin glycoside (--------).
Nature and flavor: Hot in nature and pungent in taste.
Function: Tonify kidney yang, strengthen muscles and bones, and remove cold and dampness. It is used for impotence with cold essence, weakness of muscles and bones, cold numbness of waist and knees, and cold diarrhea due to yang deficiency.

Also known as ground palm root, single-legged curculigo root, and single-legged curculigo.
Plant form: perennial herb. The leaves are tufted and leathery, with narrow lanceolate apex tips and scattered villous hairs on both sides. The base expands into a purple-red sheath. The flower stem is very short and hidden in the leaf sheath. The flowers are heterogeneous. The upper part is male and the lower part is bisexual. The bracts are needle-shaped and membranous. The flower diameter is slender and tubular in the lower part. The lobes are approximately or long-apex-lobed, lanceolate and yellow on the inner surface. The outer white stamen filaments are short and the lower part of the ovary is narrow and long. The berry has an oval apex with a beak and is puberulent. Flowering period is summer and autumn.
Born in mountain grass. Mainly produced in Sichuan.
Harvested in autumn and winter, remove roots and fibrous roots, wash and dry.
Character: The rhizome is cylindrical, slightly curved and long in diameter. The surface is dark brown or tan and rough with fibrous root marks and vertical and horizontal wrinkles. Hard and brittle, easy to break, uneven cross section, light brown or tan, darker near the center. The smell is slightly bitter and pungent.
