Although the Chinese design community has long cherished the ideal of creating a Chinese style and has been working hard towards it. However, in practice, many designers often go astray, thinking that playing with traditional graphics such as red lanterns and dragons, phoenixes and unicorns embodies Chinese style. Little do they know that this is the narrowest understanding of Chinese style. If this lazy design concept and design practice changes, it will only lead to the outside world's misunderstanding of Chinese style. The packaging of local products must highlight regional characteristics, mainly including natural characteristics and social characteristics. The natural characteristics are endowed by the local products themselves, that is, the regionality and seasonality of the production of local specialties, which generally have a long history and unique production and processing methods. The social characteristics are the characteristics of the local specialties formed in the long-term regional economic and cultural development process. Industry and characteristic economy, through cultivating and developing characteristic products that we have that people don’t have, and that we have and excel in, create a bright business card that can truly represent local economic development at low cost, on a large scale, and with high quality. Therefore, in the packaging design of local specialties, how to fully explore and utilize regional design elements will become the key to the packaging design of local specialties.
