Former Chenier Energy Company Chairman and Sharif Suki< br/> Said that the way to solve the oversupply of natural gas is to further reduce prices. He also said that his new export company plans to export natural gas at a price significantly lower than that of its rivals in the future.
Natural gas prices fell to a more than one-month low this week as the U.S. weather continues to be warm and a global supply glut persists, but Sukey said in an interview with B that low prices are key to rebalancing the natural gas market
Chenier Energy is U.S. natural gas export leader Suki is its founder, which he co-founded this year with the former COO of Partner B Group. Suki said the company hopes to start exporting in six years' time and hopes their prices will be about 10% lower than competitors by then.
An LNG export terminal in Louisiana is forecast to be operational by 2020. Sukey said he expects the supply side to have tightened by then because the current supply glut has lowered prices and boosted demand.
He pointed to Russia's record exports of natural gas to Europe as an important reason for the current glut. He said emerging natural gas producers including India's Abu Dhabi and Vietnam should price their gas independently rather than refer to oil prices as they do now as more and more supplying countries emerge.
As for how the next president of the United States will affect the energy policy of the world's largest economy, Sukey said that he believes that if Hillary is elected, the United States will continue its current energy policy.
