I have met many friends from the mainland through various channels . As long as Hotan is mentioned, what everyone will directly think of is Hotan jade and the desert. Hotan is located at the southernmost tip of Xinjiang. From my home, if you walk 30 kilometers in any direction, you will reach either the desert or the Gobi. There are strong winds every spring, and the air is filled with dust all year round. I was born in a place with four distinct seasons. To be honest, everyone in Xinjiang knows that the natural environment here is really harsh. Many people from Xinjiang have never been to Hotan in their lives.
However, I love my hometown. To me, this is a beautiful and mysterious treasure land. Another person who fell in love with Hotan as passionately as I did was Chen Ruijun, a cadre who aided Xinjiang. I called him Brother Chen.
I got to know Brother Chen through his photography. From his photography, we can see his sincere feelings for Hotan. He has been promoting Xinjiang and Hotan through a large number of photos and articles. As a result, we have become good friends who trust each other even though we have never met.
Over the years, I have often communicated with Brother Chen through WeChat and QQ, telling him about the difficulties and ups and downs on my journey to study and start a business. Brother Chen always enthusiastically encourages and enlightens me.
I once went to Urumqi to study, majoring in English education at Xinjiang Institute of Education from 2009 to 2013. After graduation, I returned to Hotan. I love my hometown, and I also know that Xinjiang has many good things. Mainlanders’ understanding of Xinjiang is still very limited. Going to college broadened my horizons and set a goal for me, which is to do my best to bring the unique good things from my hometown out of Xinjiang, to the whole country, and to the world. I think that in order to achieve such a goal and develop well in the mainland, we must first learn Chinese well, and secondly, learn Chinese history and culture well. What is most related to my hometown is the history and culture of Hetian jade. Therefore, I decided to start by understanding Hetian jade, focus on the Hetian jade business, and use Hetian jade to build a bridge of communication with friends in the mainland.
