Detailed introduction
The cap is the connecting part between piles and columns or piers. The cap connects several or even dozens of piles together to form a pile foundation. The cap is divided into high pile cap and low pile cap: low pile cap is generally buried or partially buried in the soil, and high pile cap is generally exposed on the ground or water surface. Since the high pile cap has a free length, there is no supporting body around it to jointly bear the horizontal external force. The stress situation of foundation piles is extremely unfavorable. The internal force and displacement of the pile body are larger than those of the low pile cap under the same level of external force, and its stability is therefore worse than that of the low pile cap.
Function of capping
High pile capping is generally used in port, terminal, marine engineering and bridge engineering. Low pile caps are generally used in industrial and civil housing buildings. The pile heads generally extend into the cap platform for meters, and steel bars are anchored into the cap platform. Columns or piers are built on the bearing platform to form a complete force transmission system.
In recent years, due to the use of large-diameter bored piles, the stiffness and strength of the piles are greater, so high pile caps have been widely used in bridge foundation projects.
