The chemical ingredients include poria acid, tarosic acid, chrysanthemum acid, tulipic acid, tulipinic acid, poria polysaccharide, etc.
Functions: Diuresis and dampness, strengthening the spleen and calming the heart. It is used for edema and oliguria, phlegm, dizziness and palpitations, spleen deficiency and lack of food, loose stools and diarrhea, restlessness, palpitation and insomnia.
Plant morphology: sclerotia are spherical, oblong, oval or irregular masses. There is a dark brown, wrinkled crust on the surface. The fruiting body lies flat on the surface of the sclerotia, is thick and white, and turns into light brown after ripening and drying. The nozzle is polygonal to irregular in shape, with a diameter of .~, the hole wall is thin, and the edge gradually becomes tooth-like. The spores are long, nearly cylindrical, and have smooth walls.
Pinus plants growing in sandy soil and sunny slopes are cultivated in the rhizosphere. Mainly produced in Yunnan, Anhui, Hubei and Henan.

Poria cocos with complete characters is spherical, oblate or irregular in shape. The outer skin is thin and rough, dark brown, with obvious wrinkles and constriction. It is heavy, solid in texture, granular in broken surface, light red near the edge, with small honeycomb-like holes inside white, a few light red, and some have pine roots (Fu Shen) in the middle. Odorless, bland taste, sticky to teeth when chewed.
