Buckthorn bark extract
The source is the bark of the Rhamnaceae plant, Buckthorn bark. The medicinal material is dry bark that is flat or rolled into grooves and is about 1 mm thick. It is gray-black and rough in appearance, with vertical and horizontal cracks and small transverse lenticels. The branch bark is smooth. The surface of the cork is reddish brown after the cork is removed. The inner surface is dark reddish brown with off-white longitudinal texture (fiber bundles). Brittle and easy to break, the cross section is fibrous. The gas is weak and has a particularly bitter taste.
