Basic Introduction
All polymer compounds containing epoxy groups in their molecular structure are collectively called epoxy resins. Cured epoxy resin has good physical and chemical properties. It has excellent bonding strength to the surface of metal and non-metal materials, good dielectric properties, small set shrinkage, good dimensional stability of products, high hardness, and flexibility. It has good chemical resistance and is stable to alkali and most solvents, so it is widely used in various sectors of national defense and national economy for pouring, impregnating laminates, adhesive coatings, etc.
Basic classification
According to its main components, it is divided into pure epoxy resin adhesive and modified epoxy resin adhesive.
According to its professional use, it is divided into mechanical epoxy resin adhesive. Epoxy resin adhesives for construction, electronic eyes, epoxy resin adhesives, repair epoxy resin adhesives, and traffic glues, marine glues, etc.
According to their construction conditions, they are divided into normal temperature curing glue and low temperature curing glue. Other curing glues can be divided into single-component glue, two-component glue and multi-component glue according to their packaging form. There are other classification methods, such as solvent-free glue and solvent-type glue. Glue and water-based glue, etc. However, component classification is currently used more frequently.
Basic Features
High mechanical properties. Epoxy resin has strong cohesion and dense molecular structure, so its mechanical properties are higher than general-purpose thermosetting resins such as phenolic resin and unsaturated polyester.
Strong adhesion. The epoxy resin curing system contains extremely active epoxy hydroxyl groups and polar groups such as ether bonds, amine bonds, and ester bonds, which give the epoxy cured product excellent adhesion to polar substrates such as metal, ceramic, glass, concrete, and wood. Focus.
Small curing shrinkage. Generally. It is one of the varieties with the smallest curing shrinkage among thermosetting resins. Phenolic resin is unsaturated polyester resin and silicone resin is. The linear expansion coefficient is also very small, generally /°C. Therefore, the volume does not change much after curing.
Good craftsmanship. Epoxy resin basically does not produce low-molecular volatiles when cured, so it can be molded under low pressure or contact pressure. It can be used with various curing agents to produce environmentally friendly coatings such as solvent-free high-solid powder coatings and water-based coatings.
Excellent electrical insulation. Epoxy resin is one of the varieties with the best dielectric properties among thermosetting resins.
Good stability and excellent chemical resistance. Epoxy resins that do not contain impurities such as alkali salts are not prone to deterioration. As long as it is properly stored, sealed, protected from moisture and exposed to high temperatures, its storage period is years. It can still be used if it passes the inspection after the expiration date. Epoxy cured products have excellent chemical stability. Its resistance to corrosion by a variety of media such as alkalis and salts is better than thermosetting resins such as unsaturated polyester resin, phenolic resin, etc. Therefore, epoxy resin is widely used as anti-corrosion primer. Because the cured epoxy resin has a three-dimensional network structure and is resistant to impregnation by oil, it is widely used in the inner wall lining of the integral fuel tank of oil tankers and aircraft.
