Product introduction
Acorus alias Acorus, Acorus Centipede, water sword grass. It is the rhizome of the Araceae plant Lithospermum. The plant is a perennial herb with aroma. The leaves are sword-like and linear, long and wide, with no midrib. The spathes are leaf-shaped and long, the spadix is narrowly cylindrical, the long flowers are bisexual, and the tepals are light yellow-green and have stamens. Berries obovate. The flowering period is about 3 months and the fruiting period is 3 months.
Grows among rocks in ravines and streams with moist flowing water, or near springs. Mainly produced in Sichuan, Zhejiang and Jiangsu.
Excavated in autumn and winter, remove fibrous roots and sediment, and dry in the sun.
Character: The rhizome is flat and cylindrical, often branched. The surface is tan or gray-brown, rough, with links, and long internodes. It has fine vertical lines. The upper leaf marks are triangular, arranged alternately left and right. Some have residual fibrous roots or dot-like root marks below the leaf base. It is hard, fibrous in cross-section, off-white or reddish, with obvious endodermal rings, and many vascular bundle dots and brown dots can be seen. The aroma is aromatic, the taste is bitter and slightly pungent.
