The rhizome of Clematis is columnar, .~, .~ in diameter, with a light brown surface and a stem base remaining at the top. It is tough and has a fibrous cross-section, with many fine roots growing on the lower side.
The root is slender and cylindrical, slightly curved, long ~, diameter. ~. The surface is dark brown with fine vertical stripes, and some of the bark falls off, exposing the yellow-white wood.
It is hard and brittle, easy to break, the skin is wide in the cross section, the wood is light yellow, slightly square, and there are often cracks between the skin and wood.

Identification
